We focus on high potential silver and gold projects that can be developed into low-cost, world-class mines. We currently operate five mines, have two advanced development projects and an extensive portfolio of high-quality exploration projects and prospects, along with the largest precious metals land reserve in Mexico.

Fresnillo plc engages in exploration, development, and production of gold and silver in Mexico and internationally. It principally holds interests in the Fresnillo silver mine located in Zacatecas; Cienega mine located in Durango; and Herradura mine located in Sonora. The company also holds interests in various mines in development, including Soledad-Dipolos mine, Noche Buena gold project, and Centauro Deep located in Sonora; Saucito project and Minera Juanicipio located in Zacatecas; San Julián located in Chihuahua/Durango border; San Ramón and Las Casas located in Durango; and Exploraciones Minera Parreña ? Orisyvo, San Juan located in Chihuahua, Durango, and Zacatecas. In addition, it produces lead and zinc concentrates, and silver precipitates, as well as gold/silver dore bars; and leases mining equipment. The company was founded in 1554 and is headquartered in Mexico, Mexico. Fresnillo plc is a subsidiary of Peñoles S.A.B. de C.V.

Properties

Fresnillo

Fresnillo is the world’s largest primary silver mine. It is located 60 kilometres northwest of Zacatecas, the capital of the state, which has a long tradition of silver mining. The local municipality of Fresnillo is an established city with a population of 213,145 (2010 census).

Herradura

Herradura is located 125 kilometres northwest from the nearest large town of Caborca in the State of Sonora, with a population of 81,000 (2010 census). Workers from area villages are provided daily transportation to the mine site.

Saucito

The Fresnillo Group delivers growth through the disciplined advancement of development projects towards start-up and commercial production.

Ciénega

Ciénega is located near the small community of Nuestra Señora de la Ciénega, population 2,700. The nearest town of Santiago Papasquiaro, population 45,000 (2010 census), is 153 kilometres away, which itself is 172 kilometres from Durango, the capital of the state. Because the community is entirely dependent on the mine, community engagement efforts include access to basic services.

Soledad-Dipolos

Soledad-Dipolos is located 9 kilometres northwest of the Herradura mine, Soledad–Dipolos relies on the same villages as Herradura for workers, for whom daily transportation is provided to the mine site.
