Kumarina Resources Limited (ASX: KMR) is a Perth based resource company focused on exploring and developing economic copper and gold deposits at its two projects located in Western Australia.

Both of the companies project areas, Ilgarari and Murrin Murrin have substantial historical production from previous underground and open pit operations. These prior workings combined with previous explorative drilling results provide the company with advanced drill targets.

The Ilgarari Project is located adjacent to the Great Northern Highway 140 kilometers south of Newman in Western Australia. The Project area is prospective for copper and manganese mineralization.

As of October 24, 2011, Kumarina had entered into an agreement to purchase the Murrin Murrin Project.

The Murrin Murrin Project is situated over the Murrin Murrin mining centre located some 45 kilometers east of the township of Leonora in the Mt Margaret goldfields district of Western Australia. The Project comprises seven granted Mining Leases covering 2,570 hectares.

Kumarina Resources is based in Mt Pleasant, WA.

Properties

Murrin Murrin Project

The Murrin Murrin Project is centred over the historical Murrin Murrin mining centre located some 45 km east of the township of Leonora in the north eastern goldfields of Western Australia.

The project comprises seven granted Mining Leases that covering 2,570 hectares. Six are contiguous, M39/371-M39/372, M39/398-M39/400, and M39/1068. Tenement M39/397 containing the Rio Tinto working is located 4 km to the west. The main block of tenements cover the majority of the copper and gold workings referred to as the Murrin Murrin mining centre.

Gold production in the area commenced in 1897. Historical production within the Murrin Murrin Project area is recorded as 115,058 ounces of gold from 259,058 tonnes of ore at an average grade of 13.8 grams per tonne gold.

There are at least 16 different groups of old gold workings within the Project area as well as number of old mine tailings dumps. Significant exploration activities including drilling has been completed within project area over the past 30 years.

In addition to gold production several copper zinc prospects also occur within the tenements. Copper concentrate produced from the Nangaroo and Rio Tinto workings is recorded 1948 tonnes at an average grade of 16.48% Cu for 321.20 tonnes of contained copper.

Ilgarari Project

The Ilgarari Project comprises of three exploration licences covering approximately 500 km2. The project is located adjacent to the Great Northern Highway 140 km south of Newman in Western Australia. The Collier National Park separates the two areas.

The northern area comprises of two tenements, E52/2274 and ELA52/2632 covering the historic Ilgarari Copper Mine and the southern tenement ELA52/2663 is located adjacent to the Kumarina Copper workings.

The historic Ilgarari copper mine is located in the northern area of the project, within a seven kilometre shear. Localised copper oxide mineralisation was mined to a depth of 61m level below surface in the early 1970’s.

The Ilgarari Project area is highly prospective for shear-hosted copper mineralisation and supergene manganese mineralisation. There is the probability it may also contain stratiform primary base metals mineralisation at depth.
