ACCRA(BullionStreet): Ghana, one of the leading gold producers in Africa is considering to establish a Gold City modelled along the lines of similar facilities in Johannesburg and Dubai.

Ghana's Natural Resources ministry said Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) will be the major consultant to the world class facility that will provide a unique opportunity for the accelerated transformation of the mining industry in Ghana through enhanced value addition by offering an excellent platform to nurture, sharpen and develop the skills of our indigenous craftsmen to global standards.

Ghana government asked PMMC to submit for consideration of government a strategy spelling out the necessary modalities, specific guidelines and time frames for the implementation of the project.

The West African country is looking forward to utilize nation’s mineral resources by adding value to it as it can earn more income for the country than the raw minerals exported by mining companies.

Through PMMC, the government is trying to make jewellery fabricated with the nation’s precious minerals available locally to Ghanaians and visitors to the country while providing a ready market required for the development of small scale mining sector in the country.
